Installation Guide

How to Set Up Your System

Takes just a few minutes. Once set up, your plants water themselves.

Step 1

Fill the Cone

Fill the clay cone completely with water and press the green cap on firmly.

Step 2

Water the Plant

Start with damp soil so the cone can read the plant's moisture needs accurately.

Step 3

Insert Near Roots

Push the cone into the soil close to the plant until all of the ceramic is submerged

Step 4

Place Reservoir

Put the tube in a water container, ideally level with or slightly below the green cap.

Important setup note

Best for indoor pots and heavier soils. Lower the water source to reduce flow in lighter soils

First-water check

Check after the first day and adjust plant or reservoir height if the soil is too wet or too dry.

WORRY FREE WATERING

Happy and Healthy House Plants

Take a vacation. Forget about overwatering. Turn any vase, wine bottle, or bowl into an elegant watering system, and watch your plants thrive. Sixty years of Austrian engineering powering houseplants across Europe, now available in the USA.

Built for Thirstier Plants

The larger cone moves more water than the standard Classic, so big-leafed plants, fruiting tomatoes, and balcony containers get what they actually need.

Any Container Works

A wine bottle, a mason jar, a vase, a bowl โ€” if it holds water, it can feed your plants.

Travel Without Worry

Leave for the weekend, the week, or the holidays. Come home to plants that look exactly how you left them.

Easier Than a Watering Can

Add water, drop the tube in a container, push it into the soil. That's it.

Gentle on Roots

Water seeps slowly through the clay near the root zone โ€” no flooding, no shock, no soggy soil.

Austrian Engineering

The ceramic-cone design hasn't changed since 1965. Some ideas don't need updating.

2 Classic XL Ceramic Cones

2 Classic XL Ceramic Cones

Larger ceramic cones with higher water output for thirstier indoor plants, bigger pots, and balcony containers. Each one is hollow-cast and fired at over 1,000ยฐC from the same precise clay mixture as the standard Classic โ€” just sized up.

2 Green Caps

Seals the cone after filling with water. Screw on the cone to lock in place โ€” the cap is what creates the vacuum that pulls water through the tube.

2 Siphon Tube

Connect each cone to a nearby water container โ€” a glass, mason jar, vase, or bowl. The tube delivers water on demand as the cone calls for it.

Easiest Watering Solution

How Blumat Classic Works

Water flows only when your plants need it, and stops when they don't.

The Soil Dries

Between waterings, the soil around the cone slowly loses moisture โ€” just like it does for any potted plant.

The Cone Senses the Pull

As the soil dries, it creates a gentle vacuum on the moisture inside the porous clay. The cone feels the thirst.

Water Flows In

That vacuum travels up the drip tube and draws fresh water out of your container โ€” exactly when the plant needs it.

The Soil Drinks

Water seeps slowly through the cone into the surrounding soil, then into the roots. Watering your plant perfectly.

The Flow Stops

When the soil is moist again, the vacuum releases. Watering pauses on its own until the plant is thirsty again.
