Connector for attaching the 8 mm feeding tube to a water tank, barrel or reservoir.
Drill the correct opening in the reservoir, install the tank connector, attach the 8 mm feeding tube, and place the tank above the plants for gravity-fed watering.
One 8 mm tank connector.
Required for any Blumat Drip system fed from a tank, rain barrel, or other gravity reservoir. Not needed if you're feeding your system from a tap, hose, or pressurized line. Those need a pressure reducer instead.
Orders ship free over $25 in 2-5 days in the continental USA. 30-day easy returns, no questions asked.
Covered by the official Blumat 3-year warranty from the date of purchase. If something does not perform as expected email help@blumatdrip.com.

Installation Guide

How to Set Up Your System

Takes just a few minutes. Once set up, your plants water themselves.

Step 1

Pick the Spot

Mark a spot 2 to 4 inches up from the bottom of your reservoir, on the sidewall. Leaving room at the bottom lets sediment settle below the connector instead of getting pulled into your tubing and sensors.

Step 2

Drill a 1/2" Hole

Drill a 1/2" hole at your marked spot. A step bit is the cleanest tool for the job โ€” it cuts thin plastic without cracking or chipping the wall โ€” but a standard 1/2" twist bit works fine on most plastic reservoirs if you go slow and steady.

Step 3

Install the Connector

Push the threaded nipple through the hole from the inside of the tank, with the rubber gasket sealing against the inner wall. Thread the locknut on from the outside and tighten by hand until the gasket is fully compressed against the wall.

Step 4

Connect the Tubing

Push 8 mm feeding tube fully onto the outlet barb. Position your reservoir at least 24-36 inches above your plants for steady gravity flow, then fill and check every connection for leaks before walking away.

Keep the tank above 1/4 full

The weight of the water above the connector is what pressurizes the system. Once it drops below about a quarter of the reservoir's capacity, flow gets unreliable and if the tank runs fully dry, sensors can lose their water seal and cause flooding.

Check the reservoir height

Gravity-fed systems need the water reservoir to sit higher than your plants โ€” ideally at least 36 inches above the soil to build the 5-10 PSI pressure needed for steady flow.

PLANT DRIVEN WATERING

Never Water Your Plants Again

Most watering systems run on a timer. Ours runs on a plant. No timers, electricity, or apps needed. Set it up in 30 minutes with only a pair of scissors. Powering greenhouses and home gardens across Europe since 1965 and now available in the USA.

A Closed System You Control

A reservoir gives you something a tap never can: a fixed amount of water that you chose. No hose running 24/7 if something goes wrong.

Any Tank, Any Reservoir

Rain barrels, 5-gallon buckets, indoor tanks, raised water containers. If it holds water and you can drill a hole, you can feed a Blumat system from it.

Install in About Five Minutes

Drill a hole, push the connector through, tighten the locknut, push on your tubing. The whole install takes about as long as making coffee.

For the Next Plant

It's nice to have extra fittings on hand for those times new plants just show up at your house

The Fun Part

Building a Blumat system is honestly satisfying. Every part slides together cleanly, and you can rearrange the whole layout in an afternoon if you want.

Austrian Engineering

The same precision that makes Blumat sensors work for 60+ years lives in every connector, valve, and tube in the catalog.

Gravity-Fed Water Source

How Blumat Fittings Work

Connect an elevated reservoir or rain barrel to your 8 mm supply line for simple gravity-fed watering.

Confirm the Size

8 mm fittings only work with 8 mm supply tubing. 3mm fittings work with 3mm drip tubing

Cut Tube

Use sharp scissors or a tube cutter for a square cut. Crushed or angled cuts leak.

Push It On

Seat the tubing fully onto each barb of the fitting. A snug fit holds without clamps or glue.

Test the Flow

Run water through the system and check for leaks before walking away.

Walk Away

Once it's installed and tested, you're good to go.

You're Catching Rainwater

Rain barrels are an ideal Blumat water source. Natural, low-pressure, and free. The tank connector gets it from the barrel to your sensors.

You Mix Nutrients Into Your Water

You can add nutrients to reservoir systems and fertilize dozens of plants from one tank.

You Want to Conserve Water

Reservoir-fed systems use exactly what you put in. Combined with Blumat's demand-based sensors, every drop ends up at a root.
